“What’s your counter stadium?” is quite a common question amongst Pokémon TCG competitors. With Tauros, you get that question answered with a strong and fast Pokémon that can dish out damage to grab your game-winning momentum.

Strategy Points:

  • “Crush Chance” serves to get rid of any current Stadium card out in play. Allowing for a quick denial towards a board altering strategy your opponent is planning.
  • “Take Down” doing 30 damage for one Colorless Energy on a Basic Pokémon serves as a strong move all together. You can use it to quickly apply pressure to the opponent as early as the first turn.
    • Eviolite and Defender will negate the self-damage from this attack.
    • Strong, Powerful, and Special Darkness Energy work well in adding even more damage while providing the attack cost. Special Energies in general are great with Tauros and this attack that grant a wide range of effects while you deal at least 30 damage a turn.
    • Stonjourner and Passimian also provide great damage modifiers at a fast pace with their respective Poké-Bodies.
  • “Seething Anger” has astronomical damage potential based off of Tauros’s current damage and coin flip results.
    • Fighting Fury Belt, Giant Cape, and Heat Energy all grant Tauros with more HP to potentially store even more damage counters to capitalize off of.
    • For HP/Defensive buffs on each form of Tauros, there are: Aspertia City Gym (Colorless), Zapdos – Level X (Fighting), Moltres – Level X (Fire), and Articuno – Level X (Water) that assist each respective Tauros for overall longevity.
    • Victini, Glimwood Tangle, Sandaconda, and Maractus all provide great support to increase your chances for more damage with this attack.
  • Tauros – Level X:
  • “Powered Force” negates all effects of any Special Energy attached to Tauros, but adds 10 damage to its attacks per Energy.
    • Double Colorless Energy will provide both two Colorless Energy and 20 extra damage for Tauros – Level X’s attacks.
    • Due to Tauros – Level X’s all Colorless Energy costing attacks, every unlimited Energy switching Pokemon works well with adding more damage for this Poké-Body, this includes: Lunala (Special Energy), Hydreigon (Darkness), Gardevoir (Fairy), Gigalith (Fighting), Emboar (Fire), Sceptile (Grass), Magnezone (Lightning), Klinklang (Metal), Reuniclus (Psychic), and Swampert (Water.)
  • “Stampede Slam” does great spread damage that has the rare application of Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon. Getting inflicted Paralysis from this attack can mean a Knock Out on the Defending Pokémon by next turn, while flipping tails can result is a crucial disruption play done to your opponent’s hand.
    • Applying Weakness and Resistance to Benched Pokémon allows for Tauros – Level X, and the four different forms it can be Leveled Up from, to deal even more damage if you analyze your opponent’s board and see if you can hit for Weakness.
      • Vileplume will help amplify damage for Weakness while Tropius will get rid of Resistance on your opponent’s Pokémon all together.
    • Red Card, Peeking Red Card, and Gumshoos all provide strong effects to potentially assistance in disruption if you flip tails on this attack.
