Flareon – Pokémon TCG Highlander

Pre Evolution:

Form Change:

Burst Special Conditions from the starting line with sustained Fire Energy movement throughout the game makes Flareon a strong team player with a threatening attack in terms of damage and halting momentum.

Strategy Points:

  • “Flash Fire” provides consistent Energy movement for your team, allowing for fast Energy acceleration plays.
    • Pairing this with Rayquaza, Typhlosion, Moltres, and/or Arcanine allows for a high pace of board productivity for your Energy management.
  • “Evolutionary Flame” grants Burn and Confusion on the Defending Pokémon when Flareon is played. Pairing this with Stadium cards like Full Flame or Wela Volcano Park can quickly dial up the pressure on the Defending Pokémon.
    • Multiple special conditions works well with Pokémon like Leafeon and Sneasler, the former can be paired with Devolution Spray plays with two Eevee’s in your deck while that latter can add Retreat Cost punishing Poison onto the Defending Pokémon for no Energy.
    • Because you can target your own Active Pokémon. Conkeldurr and Mightyena appreciate the self-inflicted Special Conditions for “Facade” and “Cold Feet” respectively.
  • “Kindle” deals great damage for its cost and provides a guaranteed Energy discard on both Flareon and the Defending Pokémon. You can push a strategy for this to be in your favor with Burning Energy.
    • You can also run the previously mentioned Pokémon that pair well with “Flash Fire” to stream Fire Energy to Flareon for persistent damage and Energy removal.
      • Crushing and Enhanced Hammer are great cards to pair with this attack. Which can easily leave the Defending Pokémon without any Energy after one “Kindle.”
  • Flareon – Level X:
  • “Flame Spirited Guts” provides a great burst in Energy and damage whenever Flareon – Level X gets a Special Condition. You can run Ariados or Blaziken to consistently activate this on demand.
  • “Searing Super Power” does great damage with a risk of Flareon taking a bit more damage during your opponent’s next turn. When paired with Flareon’s Poké-Powers, you can swiftly Knock Out any Pokémon with an HP of 160 or less (if they can be Burned.)
    • Plus Power and Defender work well with this attack, and add to Flareon – Level X’s longevity. The HP buffs from Heat Energy can have it close out games if the opponent can’t stop a sweeping play from this attack.
