Pre Evolutions:

Form Change:

Artillery at the ready, Blastoise enters Highlander with a full carrier of lethal attacks and tide-turning support.

Strategy Points:

  • “Dig Well” is a high risk-high reward Poké-Power with a level of netting that shuffles 1 Water Energy back into your deck. Supporters like Mallow allow for guaranteed attachments (if you have them in deck) while Pokémon like Delcatty and Mantine (with Mantyke) can swiftly place Water Energy on top of your deck with their own respective Poké-Powers.
  • The damage adds up fast for “Aqua Press” in the average game. Especially against Dragon or other Water Type decks. Pokémon like Floatzel and Walrein quickly ramp up the damage to OHKO numbers on the average fully evolved Pokémon HP.
  • “Walrein – Level X” also pairs well with the previously mentioned strategies. The accumulation of Water Energy makes for an overall hard to KO Pokémon that constantly threatens Paralysis, Energy Discarding, and KOs.
  • “Double Launcher” serves as a fast way to get two knockouts and hinder the opponent’s set up. You can use Pokémon like Delibird and Cloyster to leave a “mark for KO” with “Hail” and “Spine Missile” respectively.
  • You can use Telescopic Sight to heighten the KO potential with Double Launcher. Float Stone and Pokémon like “Suicune – Level X” and “Pelipper – Level X” provide easy Retreat options to keep streaming “Double Launcher”.
  • Squirtle is well protected thanks to its “Shell Shield” Ability, allowing for easier set ups overall. “Water Arrow” from Wartortle can make a big difference for crucial Double Launcher plays down the road. While “Surf” provides a reliable way to deal more damage than an initial “Aqua Press” for a Water and Double Colorless Energy.
  • With Form Changes:
  • “Mega Launcher” from “Mega Blastoise” puts a lot of fully evolved Pokémon in Highlander on high alert. You can run Pokémon like Greninja and Decidueye (Either Type) to increase KO potential ceiling.
  • The extra 20 damage from “Mega Buff” allows for Mega Blastoise to potentially sweep opposing teams with Aqua Press. Paired with the previously mentioned Delcatty and Mantine and you have quite the combo to lock-in games.
