A quick problem solver with a rewarding lock-down procedure, Wobbuffet enters Highlander with Poké-Body control and deceptively high damage potential.
Strategy Points:
- “Bide Barrier” provides a quick way to dismantle hard walls and crucial Poké-Bodies for deck strategies, like retreat aid and consistent healing. You can use hit and run attacks with Pokémon like Morpeko and Tatsugiri.
- You can also use “Bide Barrier” to get rid of “Slow Start” on Regigigas when you play it down or “Bodyguard” on Marowak if you anticipate your opponent playing a card like N or Iono that will refresh your hand.
- You can use Escape Rope, Repel or selective bench pulling effects (Metagross, Appletun, Lysandre, Guzma, etc.) to trap your opponent’s Pokémon with “Tenacious Bind”. You can use Mesprit or Gothitelle to freely pivot to and from Wobbuffet when needed.
- The damage from “Flip Over” should never be underestimated. If you’re going 2nd, you can quickly attach a Psychic and a Double Colorless Energy to get a quick knock out on most Basic Pokémon, especially if you’re running Vitality Band, PlusPower, and/or Horror Energy.
- Using Eviolite or Defender stops the self-damage from “Flip Over”. Paired with its two Poké-Bodies, this attack helps handle Psychic-Resistant Pokémon while possibly dismantling defensive setups done by your opponent.
- With Wynaut:
- “Gritty Countering Coat” works perfectly with the previously mentioned hit and run attack strategies, now for zero energy to do a lot of potential damage. You can combine this with Rocky Helmet or Pokémon like Nidoking to amplify punishment while using Pokémon like Minun to disrupt and pivot into Wobbuffet.
- With “Peppy Smile”, you can quickly build your board while your opponent worries about the three Poke-Bodies on Wobbuffet. This Poke-Power greatly assists Pokémon like Crobat and Drifblim to stream their deck retreating attacks, especially when paired with Broken Time-Space.
