When it comes to amplifying Poison, Weezing is at the forefront of Highlander’s roster. Add the offensive prowess of low Energy and you have a lethal knockout taker for your team.
Strategy Points:
- “Toxic Virus” is blunt in its effect, but versatile in its execution.
- Ariadios, Salazzle, Amoongus, Roserade (with Budew), and Venusaur all provide Poké-Powers that can grant Poison when needed.
- “Virbank City Gym“, Shiinotic, and Butterfree – Level X all further increase the damage from Poison between turns.
- “Smog” essentially does 40 damage after applying Poison and “Toxic Virus.” You can use the previously listed Poison modifying combos as well as attack punishment ones like “Rocky Helmet” and “Horror Energy.”
- “Super Explosion” provides a tremendous amount of damage for two Colorless Energy. Allowing for fast Knock Outs and/or a final parting attack if Weezing is low on HP.
- You can help save Weezing by running “Giant Cape“, “Protection Cube“, or multiple “Defenders.”
- Koffing’s “Smogscreen” provides a great layer of protection for starting the game with. It also can be used later in the game for added pressure while the Defending Pokémon is Poisoned. “Suffocating Gas” can be a great starting attack if you anticipate using your “Double Colorless Energy” for “Super Explosion” a bit after for a total of 110 damage.
- Weezing – Level X:
- “Disease Detonation” is a great counterattacking Poké-Body that applies Poison, Confusion, and 20 damage to the attacker (30 if they’re an EX.) The previous listed Poison and Defensive modifiers (except the Pokémon Tool Cards) pair well with this Poké-Body.
- Not only does “Horror Energy” provide a great addition in counterattacking measures, but it pairs well with “Altar of the Moone“, “Moonlight Stadium“, or Sneasler in making Weezing – Level X a free retreating pivoting punishment Pokémon.
- “Methane Wave” is a great spread damage move that will discard an Energy attached to the Defending Pokémon if they are Poisoned.
- Along with the Pokémon listed under “Toxic Virus”, Crobat, Toxapex, and Toxicroak are great Pokémon to run for a spread damage + Poison strategy.
