Taking position with a plethora of threatening options, Victreebel enters Highlander with range and disruption, firing off all cylinders as the opposition withers with lower mobility.
Strategy Points:
“Tangling Tendrils” opens up a lot of punishing opportunities towards the opponent. You can pair this with a strong hit and run attacker like Seviper, Accelgor, and Ninjask.
Toxapex and Dugtrio do a great job in adding punishment for if the opponent decides to pay the increased retreat cost.
You can also run Vileplume, Galvantula, and Dust Island to make switching more difficult and punishing for the opponent.
“Burning Scent” is a great zero Energy bench pulling move that will initially do 30 damage with its inflicted Special Conditions. Paired with the previously mentioned options, you have an attack that can both pick off threats and halt your opponent’s momentum in their tracks.
Honchkrow, Mawile, Lumineon, Target Whistle, and Captivating Poké Puff are all great ways to lure basic Pokémon onto the bench that you can drag up afterward.
“Energy Dissolve” provides great damage with a guaranteed discard if the Defending Pokémon does not leave the Active Spot going into your next turn.
If you have Broken Time-Space in play, you can use Super Scoop Up or Switch + Seeker/Corviknight to pull up and play Victreebel back down, now with Weepinbell’s “Dangerous Mucus” to potentially Knock Out the opponent. Granting you a wide range of productive attacks to use as you get a prize card.
Sunflora’s “Solar Power”, Tropius’s “Blessed Fruit”, Abomasnow’s “Snow Play”, and Parasect’s “Nutritional Support” are all great productive attacks to consider for game state momentum.
Bellsprout provides fast bench pulling and chip damage that can put the game in your favor from the get-go. Weepinbell works well with Devolution Spray to stream Poison and Burn, providing a boost to make “Vine Whip” do at least 70 damage before more modifiers.
Carnivine and Muk both can snag quick Knock Outs for one Energy thanks to this Poké-Body. Aceelgor’s “Deck and Cover” will make the opponent have to play a Switch card if they don’t want to be Knocked Out.
You can pivot into Trevenant, Stoutland, Spiritomb or Gothitelle to make your opponent have to play even more resources to switch after a “Deck and Cover.”
“Life Lash” has an abundance of options you can utilize to bolster Energy numbers to snipe accordingly:
Rayquaza, Walrein, Moltres, Regirock, Skuntank, Naganadel, Azumarill, Hippowdon, Arcanine, Yanmega, Electivire, Forretress, Musharna, and Floatzel all have Poké-Powers that accelerate Basic Energy.
The previously mentioned Parasect and Tropius offer great attacks to accelerate Energy onto your board. You can also run Bede and Marnie’s Pride to build your board as you disrupt with Vicrtreebel.
