Coasting in support for your team, Lapras ferries into Highlander with great options to fetch crucial cards while providing reliable damage that can scale higher with a threat to your opponent’s bench.
Strategy Points:
“Seafaring” is a great attack to use at any point of the game. The Energy acceleration provides a boost in momentum for an early game blitz and a late game recovery play to keep hold for taking the last prize.
Eviolite provides great longevity to set up your board with Lapras, especially when paired with its other two attacks for resource retrieval and high damage placement potential.
“Carry In” grabs a wide range of card types to build and maintain a strong hand. Some combos to consider are:
Vitality Band + Guzma + basic Water Energy to have a fast attacker ready for a potential Knock Out, like Dracovish or Luvdisc.
Rocky Helmet + Mallow & Lana + basic Dragon or Metal Energy to attach Rocky Helmet to Lapras or another wall after you use Mallow & Lana to switch into Tasugiri and use “Survival Strategy” to fetch even more resources and switch into a Rocky Helmet user.
EXP. Share + Pokémon Collector + basic Fighting Energy to then use Pokémon Collector to play Terrakion and then attach the EXP. Share and basic Fighting Energy to Terrakion for a prepared “Retaliate” play. Whether the extra Energy comes from Lapras or a hand attachment, you can continue streaing resources until it goes down for Terrakion to come in and help maintain good momentum.
“Surf” has a great damage ceiling thanks to its bench damage spread effect. Regardless, pairing Lapras with a Fighting Fury Belt adds even more damage HP for survivability.
Lapras – Level X
“Cryo Cold Crush” has a wide range for enhanced punishment when you consider that Rainbow Energy, Aurora Energy, and Dragon Energy (when attached to a Dragon type Pokémon) are considered Water Energy. This allows for Lapras Level X to serve as a fast counter to problems that hold these attributes. As an added factor, the 50% paralysis chance can be game winning in terms of momentum.
Tropius and Mothim provide bypasses with any -20 resistance, helping Lapras – Level X maximize its damage.
“Frigid Serenade” provides fast and reliable damage with a great locking effect. If the Defending Pokémon is an EX, it becomes a steep uphill battle for the opponent to get out of if they lack a switching card or a method to get rid of the Special Condition.
