Farfetch’d is a Highlander trailblazer, with great resource retrieval, high burst damage potential, and a win condition that can be initiated as early as the first turn. Opponents should be cautious around what this Pokémon can do for one Energy or less.
Strategy Points:
- “Go and Collect” is a fantastic resource retrieval attack that will keep your cards protected with shuffle armor. Some combos to consider are:
- Broken Time-Space and Seeker.
- Professor’s Letter and Energy Exchanger.
- Target Whistle and Lysandre/Guzma.
- PlusPower and Vitality Band.
- Crushing Hammer and Enhanced Hammer.
- Eviolite and Defender.
- Fighting Stadium and Choice Band.
- “Swords Dance” opens a possible win condition as early as the first turn. Paired with defensive modifiers like Eviolite/Fighting Fury Belt, Defender, and Aspertia City Gym, and you can make Farfetch’d an overwhelming sweeper.
- A Z-Crystal will net you a lot of resources for your board and hand overall if you use “Z-Swords Dance/Go and Collect”, you can also use it for “Fury Cutter” next turn for a minimum of 70 damage, before modifiers.
- “Swords Dance” counters can be swapped over to other Pokémon thanks to Ninja Boy and Thorton. Some Pokémon to consider are:
- Copperajah (swapping to Cufant then evolving), who can deal and heal even more damage with “Dig Drain.”
- Cresselia, who can Level-Up and have “Moon Skip” deal even more damage, allowing for extra prize cards to be taken.
- Kingler (swapping to Krabby), who can use “Guard Claw” for 60 damage a turn now with added layers of defensive protection.
- Eviolite/Fighting Fury Belt Compatible:
- Buzzwole, who can keep a snow ball of momentum with “Flex Boost” with great bench pressure while healing at least 70 now with “Touchdown.”
- Furfrou, who already maintains great overall bulk and disruption in its options. Now with heightened damage to dial up offensive pressure.
- Guzzlord, “Mountain Munch” can grab an early Knock Out with added disruption. A boosted “Red Viking” can make a double prize Knock Out easier to get.
- Farfetch’d can use any type of Energy for these attacks, Strong, Stone, Shield, Powerful, and Special Darkness Energy are all offensive and defensive Special Energy that can further aid Farfetch’d.
- “Fury Cutter” has the potential to do 50 damage for one Energy. Victini, Glimwood Tangle, Will, Trick Coin, Maractus, Sandaconda, and Jirachi – Level X are all options to consider to help achieve 50 damage.
- Squawkabilly, Altaria, Stonjourner, Dodrio – Level X, and Passimian are all great bench supporting Pokémon that help Farfetch’d with snowballing momentum to help you win the game.
- Farfetch’d – Level X:
- “Leek Swing” has a damage potential of 100, before the previous listed modifiers. You can easily reset the “can’t use next turn” effect with a switch effect.
- “Put In Place” opens up a lethal level of range for Farfetch’d to pick off potential threats on the Bench.
- You can do switch rotations with Zoroark, Solgaleo, Silvally, or Dodrio + Linoone, Tentacruel, or Slowking to alter your opponent’s board and turn their Pokémon into an EX.
