Form Change:

Blitzing with great damage, Zapdos brings a crackling tempest to Highlander for daring players to utilize to an effective degree.

Strategy Points:

  • “Flame Charge” can turn the tides of a game with one flipped heads. You can use Quick Ball, Battle Compressor, and Viridian Forest to quickly discard Fire or Darkness Energy and get more resources before using this Poke-Power.
    • Volcanion, Blissey, and Zoroark provide Poke-Powers to discard Fire and Darkness Energy with great bonuses in offense, healing, and mobility, respectively.
    • Use Super Scoop Up, Seeker, and/or AZ plays to recycle this Poke-Power and continue blitzing with 100 damage strategies.
  • “Legendary Ascent” is a guaranteed Poke-Power when it comes to Energy acceleration. It’s important to aim for “Flame Charge” first overall, but the assurance of this Poke-Power makes it easy to use “Scorching Wing” / “Fiery Wrath” right when you play Moltres.
    • You can use Typhlosion, Arcanine, or Rayquaza to quickly accelerate Fire Energy for this Poke-Power.
    • Skuntank, Weavile, and Yveltal are great partners to accelerate Darkness Energy for Galarian Moltres.
  • “Scorching Wing” knocks out a wide range of fully evolved Pokemon. Regular Moltres can utilize Burning Energy to maintain attachments, while Galarian Moltres can use Special Darkness Energy to dial up even more damage.
    • Heatran – Level X will help Regular Moltres keep two basic Fire Energy. While Lunatone – Level X will help Galarian Moltres maintain two basic Darkness Energy.
  • Moltres – Level X:
  • “Treacherous Inferno” provides a net buff to offense, defense, and mobility for all of your Fire and Darkness Pokemon. One Switch or Warp Point can have Moltres – Level X do this from the bench for potentially the rest of the game.
  • “Legendary Pressure” technically does 40 damage for one Energy, thanks to “Treacherous Inferno.” The increased attack cost can lock down your opponent’s attackers, all while halting effects like Special Condition attacks done to it.
    • Emboar, Flareon, Obastagoon, and Crawdaunt are all great bench supporting Pokemon that appreciate “Trecherous Inferno” and the easy offensive pressure of this attack.
