Form Change:

Swift in movement, damage, and Energy support, Starmie spins into Highlander with a variety of options to provide synergy for a plethora of playstyles.

Strategy Points:

  • “Aqua Recycle” grants you one recovered Water Energy each turn, not only does this help you stream manual attachments, but it can provide the cost for effects for cards like Quick Ball and Viridian Forest.
    • Greninja’s “Water Shuriken” works well with the guaranteed Water Energy recovered each turn place damage counters on your opponent’s board each turn.
      • This also works for Greninja BREAK’s “Giant Water Shuriken” to add even more damage on the board.
    • Walrein’s “Gather Ice” appreciates the extra recovered Energy to add to the number of cards attached.
    • Bellossom, Kyogre, Lapras, Manaphy, and Quaquaval greatly appreciate the extra Energy in hand to add to their respective acceleration effects.
  • “Star Boomerang” allows for potential prize denial by shedding off all of Starmie’s damage counters and going to your hand.
    • You can run PlusPower and Vitality Band to add more damage that will also recycle back to your hand.
    • You can switch into walls like Trevenant, Ting-Lu, Wobbuffet, Mr. Mime, Spiritomb, Stoutland, Medicham, Kabutops, Milotic, Ursaring, Aggron, and Electrode.
  • “Core Flash” does a great amount of damage to any Pokemon with a Pokémon with a Poké-Power or Poké-Body.
    • You can run Shrine of Punishment and Cursed Stone to tack on extra damage for potential Knock Outs each turn.
      • Super Potion is helpful for keeping Starmie healthy, while “Aqua Recycle” can quickly get your Water Energy back. You can also use “Star Boomerang” to remove Starmie’s damage counters.
  • Getting shuffle armor from “Cosmic Draw” is great for an early game boost in resources. “Swift” having shred properties can help bypass fortified walls if only a little bit of chip damage is needed.
  • Starmie – BREAK:
  • “Break Star” dealing 50 damage to all of your opponent’s Pokémon-EX, allowing for big plays to get multiple Knock Outs in one turn.
    • You can run Eneporter, Linoone, Tentacruel, or Slowking to alter your opponent’s board and turn their Pokémon into an EX.
  • Starmie BREAK’s 130 HP makes for great sustainability for “Aqua Recycle” plays on the bench.
    • You can use Vaporeon, Auroras, Glaceon, and Super Potion to help with Starmie BREAK’s sustainability.
