With an awesome concept promoted by Cooldude112233445570, the community took a dive into its first Structure Deck format. There’s a lot to discover in terms of the intended combos and synergy Konami was going for. I look forward to seeing more fun fixed deck matchups in the future.

Here’s what each player brought:

SPIRE_FAN

The deck that got me back into competitive Yugioh. I was excited to play Fury from the Deep yet again. There’s a lot of fun to be had with this deck, and I’m not just talking about using banned cards like Snatch Steal and Premature Burial! The classic Mother Grizzly destruction combos behind Gravity Bind served as a cool way to thin out the deck and bring out more water monsters. One combo I love to this day is that you can special summon Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 while under the protection of Gravity Bind or Tornado Wall, then attack directly with A Legendary Ocean out, as it lowers the monsters level to three. I also love the blunt “brute force” that the deck will push for with its Normal Monsters and Star Boy. I always love playing my first Yugioh card, one form or another.

PMurphy (Champion)

On his persistent path of monthly victories, PMurphy takes home the gold once again with an awesome Structure Deck. Cyber Strike is well-rounded, with a lot of lethal combos at its disposal. From Cyberdark Horn becoming a great combo recovery to the classic aggression of Cyber Dragon and its many forms, you have to stay swift on your feet when playing against this deck. PMurphy demonstrated a great skill in recognizing the window of opportunity to strike with cards like Power Bond and Machine Duplication to take momentum and board control. I’m a big fan of Gale Dogra in this deck and its witty combos with your Extra Deck. Props to the Structure Deck designers since the start of the game who have found ways to show players the power of synergy through play.

Thanks again to all of the players that entered, and congrats to PMurphy for taking home the gold! We will see you on March 23rd for the next Monthly!
